Lightroom Classic plugin

Download Latentshoot for Lightroom Classic

The plugin is one zip for Mac and Windows. You add it in Lightroom’s Plug-in Manager, sign in with a code from your browser, and then publish collections straight into a client gallery.

New to the plugin? What it does in Lightroom

Installing it

From the zip to a published set

  1. Unzip it, and move the folder somewhere it will stay

On a Mac with Lightroom installed, the Finder may show the folder as a single file. Lightroom runs the plugin from wherever the folder is when you add it, so keep it out of Downloads or anywhere else you clear out.

    You now have
    Latentshoot.lrplugin
  2. Add it in the Plug-in Manager

In Lightroom Classic, open the File menu and choose Plug-in Manager. Press Add at the bottom left, choose the Latentshoot.lrplugin folder, and press Done.

  3. Sign in with a code

In the Library, find Latentshoot in the Publish Services panel and press Set Up, then press Sign in at the top of the settings.

Lightroom shows an eight-letter code and opens Latentshoot in your browser with the code filled in. Check that the two match and press Connect. Lightroom notices by itself, and your password is never typed into it.

    Save
Latentshoot’s Connect Lightroom screen, with the code WDJB-MJHT filled in. Under it, a line reading Lightroom Classic plugin is asking to connect to Northlight Studio; a list of what it will be able to do, which is publish photographs into a gallery on one of your shoots, rename a gallery or a set, and remove a photograph it published; and two buttons, Connect and Do not connect.
The screen Lightroom opens. It names the team the plugin will publish to, and what it can do there, before you press Connect.
  4. Make a gallery, and a set inside it

Name the gallery and choose the shoot it is for, or press New shoot if the shoot is not in Latentshoot yet. Each set you create inside it becomes a set in the gallery, under the same name.

    Right-click Latentshoot

    Right-click the gallery

  5. Drag photographs into the set and publish

Lightroom exports each photograph as an sRGB JPEG and uploads it to the gallery. The gallery starts as a draft, and your client sees it once you publish it on the Gallery screen in Latentshoot, through any share link that includes Gallery.

At the other end

Your collections, as your client sees them

Each set arrives under the name you gave it in Lightroom, in the order you arranged it. Your client ticks the photographs they want, and every select comes back to the Comments panel with their name and any note they left.

A client’s gallery on a phone, in two views. On the left, the cover: the shoot’s title over a full-width photograph of a cliff path, with the number of photographs, sets and days, and a line reading 7 selected. On the right, further down the same page: a set called Knitwear with two of its six photographs ticked, and the start of a set called Rooftop.

Inside the zip

Ten files of plain Lua

The plugin is not compiled, so you can open any of these files in a text editor and read what it sends to Latentshoot and when. Your sign-in is kept in Lightroom’s own encrypted password store rather than in the publish settings, which can be exported and copied to another computer.

Checking the download

Compare the checksum before you install

The zip is packed the same way every time, so its SHA-256 changes only when the plugin does. Run the command for your computer and compare what it prints with the checksum here. Windows prints it in capital letters, which makes no difference.

Afterwards

Updating and removing it

Updating to a new version

The Plug-in Manager shows the version you have, and this page always offers the newest. To update, quit Lightroom, replace the Latentshoot.lrplugin folder with the one from the new zip in the same place, and open Lightroom again.

You stay signed in, and your galleries and sets are where you left them.

Removing it

In the Plug-in Manager, choose Latentshoot and press Remove. Photographs you have already published stay in their galleries, and your client’s link keeps working.

Pressing Sign out in the plugin’s settings forgets the sign-in on that computer. Pressing Disconnect under Account, in Integrations, ends it at Latentshoot’s end as well.

If something goes wrong

Every message ends in a code

Most messages say what to do in the message itself. If one keeps coming back, send us the code and we can tell what happened without a screenshot.

Questions

About installing it

Which Lightroom does it work with?
Lightroom Classic, the version that keeps a catalogue on your own computer, on a Mac or on Windows. The other Lightroom, which keeps your photographs in Adobe’s cloud, cannot take a plugin on any device. From that one, export the photographs and drag them onto the Gallery screen in Latentshoot.
Does the plugin cost anything?
No. It is the same plugin on every plan, Free included. How much a gallery can hold and how long it stays open depend on the plan, and the pricing page has both.
Can I install it on more than one computer?
Yes. Install it and sign in on each one. Every computer is listed on its own under Account, in Integrations, so you can disconnect one without signing the others out.
Does it change my catalogue?
It adds the Latentshoot publish service and the galleries and sets you make under it. Publishing exports copies of your photographs and leaves the originals and their edits as they are. Your client’s selects arrive as comments, and nothing is written to your star ratings or flags.

The plugin publishes into a Latentshoot account

Make one with no card, start a shoot, and the plugin can publish to it the first time you sign in.

Adobe, Lightroom and Lightroom Classic are trade marks of Adobe Inc. Latentshoot is not affiliated with Adobe, and they are named here only to say which software the plugin works with.
